We elected to skip the 1:30pm Quadra ferry so that we could check this place out. We were seated around 1:15 and placed drink orders (beers). At 1:30, we still didn't have any beer nor had our food order been taken. One of our party finally went in to inquire and we were able to put our food order in. At 1:45 we still did not have beer and sent someone to move our car/trailer to the 2:30 ferry line. At 2:00 we asked for our food to go (I will mention that at this time, a gentleman who sat down well after us was served HIS fish). We ate our fish and chips in the ferry line and they were some of the best I've had, but my goodness, the service was SLOW. I will also mention that the other couple we were traveling with had this same problem earlier in the month. It just should not take over 30 minutes to fry food and certainly not to open beers and deliver them to a table. Another issue I had was the pricing- the 2 piece halibut fish and chip MEAL is $18.95. One piece of fish is $9.95. I just wanted two pieces of fish, but it was more economical to order the meal and hold the fries... I would give this a solid 4.5 for food, but my goodness, the service and pricing drag this down to a 3.
Great fish, halibut was good. Batter was light and really nice. Fries were fresh and tasty. Had some local beer and service was great! Slaw was good as well.
Amazing fish and chips. Slower service but they were busy and the rest of town was out of power so to be expected. And the resident seal was putting on a good show to keep us entertained while we waited. Decent prices for the high quality of fish. Gluten free options too which was nice. Not a big wine and beer selection. It was nice to sit right on the ocean though on the patio.
My wife and I dined with friends along the harbor here and enjoyed it. I had never tried salmon fish & chips before and the Dockside version was tasty! But best part of the meal for us was certainly the garlic shrimp appetizer ... you must give this a try! Friendly service and plenty of outdoor tables if the weather is suitable. Conveniently located next to ferry, assuming you can find parking in the nearby parking lot :)
I had the two piece of haddock with yam fries. The fish was lightly battered and very moist and tasty. But yam fries were fabulous. Service was good. We ate outside on the deck. Highly recommended.
